Many homeless shelters were closed on Memorial Day to observe the holiday but 'Repairers of the Breach' on Milwaukee's north side made sure everyone had something positive to do.
Milwaukee's only daytime shelter hosts a picnic every year on Memorial Day.
The picnic includes the regular backyard barbecue fixings like hot dogs, hamburgers, baked beans, and ice cream.
"It feels wonderful. I wouldn't have missed this for anything in the world just to be here and to serve," said the Executive Director James West.
This year, the shelter prepared meals for up to 200 attendees.
