Racine & Me February 25, 2018: Racine County Bakeries Inspired by Steve Aoki and Polka Royalty Steve Meisner
Jacob Kittilstad would have like to have introduced internationally-celebrated DJ Steve Aoki onto the program but due to a late scheduling issue he was unable to appear on the program. But the show must go on! And three Racine County bakeries had already prepared beautifully decorated cakes inspired by the artist’s music. In a series of video profiles - Jacob introduced viewers to decorators at Country Rose Bakery and Café followed by Gloria’s Cakes then Sugar and Spice Cupcakes.
Jacob then continued the discussion with the bakers about how they applied their ideas to the cakes. He thanked them for their appearance – and pointed viewers to check out their websites. Check out Sugar and Spice Cupcake here - check out Gloria's Cakes here - and check out Country Rose Bakery and Cafe here.
Next, Jacob was joined by polka musician Steve Meisner who plays regular shows in Sturtevant at Hiawatha Bar & Grill. He says the appearances are part of a long-standing family tradition started by his father. He talked about his life as a career musician and offered insight into the working world of polka.
