Puerto Rican Family Festival to be held Sunday, August 5

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The sixth annual Puerto Rican Family Festival is set for Sunday, August 5 at Humboldt Park, featuring food, music, a salsa dance contest, a domino contest, and a kids area.

"The Puerto Rican culture is salsa, it's exciting, it's something that should be going on forever, especially now with a lot of the tragedies and over 4,000 people that died in Puerto Rico after Hurricane Maria. It's really important to keep the culture going and share it with other people so they understand it," said the festival's director, Yussef Morales.

The festival is free to attend and goes from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Sunday. An award presentation will be held at 12:30 p.m. Last year, more than 10,000 visited the one-day event. Organizers are expecting as many as 15,000 people in 2018.
