The Pleasant Prairie Premium Outlet mall is busy this Black Friday weekend and that's why local law enforcement officers are stepping up security.
The Pleasant Prairie Police Department has more officers patrolling the outlet mall this weekend.
"To provide extra security," Sgt. Aaron Schaffer said. "We're trying to keep them there as much as we can to have a visible presence."
Shoppers like Tashena Johnson are already vigilant this time of year. She tries to keep her purchases hidden.
"Keep them on the floor or in my trunk or something and lock the car," Johnson said.
While there hasn't been a strong arm robbery incident at the outlets this weekend, Schaffer said if a shopper is ever approached by someone trying to take their bags they should be loud. He said knowing self-defense would help tremendously, but sometimes it's not worth it.
"In the end, it might be worth letting them get away rather than putting yourself at harm," Sgt. Schaffer said.
If shoppers make a big purchase, Schaffer suggests buying that item last so shoppers can get them into their cars and head out right away.
