2 Milwaukee Police officers injured following accident near 13th and Capitol

UPDATE:

MILWAUKEE, Wis. (CBS 58) -- 

Two Milwaukee Police officers were injured when their squad car and a pickup truck collided in an intersection on Milwaukee’s north side around 8:45 PM Friday night.   According to the Milwaukee Police, the officers were pursuing another vehicle which was stolen in an armed robbery.  Near N 13th Street and Capitol Drive, the police report said a pickup truck failed to yield the right-of-way and the squad crashed into it.   The two officers were injured and taken to a local hospital where they were treated and released.   The driver of the pickup truck was not injured, stayed on the scene and will be cited for failure to yield.   The MPD is still looking for the car stolen in the initial armed robbery.

The accident happened near 13th and Capitol shortly before 9 p.m.

The Milwaukee Fire Department confirms that one person was taken to the hospital for treatment of injuries.

There is currently no word on what lead up to the accident.

The condition of the officers involved is unknown.

Milwaukee Police continue to investigate.
