Plane diverted to Mitchell Airport for smoky odor

MILWAUKEE-- A Delta flight that was headed from Minneapolis to NYC had to be diverted to Mitchell Airport in Milwaukee after the flight crew detected a smoky odor.

The incident happened around 11am Saturday.

The flight landed safely and a Delta spokesperson said that the diversion was done out of an abundance of caution.

There were 148 passengers on board the flight.

They were all taken aboard another plane in order to get to LaGuardia Airport where they were originally scheduled to go.

Officials are still investigating what caused the smoky odor.
