MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- In the United States, two in five people struggle purchasing female care products due to high costs.
The Milwaukee Diaper Mission (MDM) hosted a packaging event helping provide clean supplies to those who need it the most.
More than two dozen volunteers raced against the clock to assemble enough kits for one month of distribution, turning it into a friendly competition to make things more fun.
Their mission is to end period poverty and highlight the importance of having access to quality products.
"It's crucial," said Nicole Dachs, a volunteer. "It's part of everybody's daily lives and in order to function and do the things that they need to do, work school etc. they need the necessary supplies to manage their periods and not be a hindrance as to why they can't do what they need to do."
The work done during the event will benefit by 2,000 people in our hometowns.
