MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Milwaukee Police confirm that someone was shot inside a McDonald's near Cesar Chavez Drive and Washington on Milwaukee's south side.

The shooting was reported just after 4:30 p.m. Sunday. Customers and employees were working and eating inside the McDonald’s when a shooter opened fire inside the restaurant. Raymundo Anguyano was inside the bathroom when he heard a gun fired.

"I just heard a big gun shot, people screaming and then someone yelled call the cops," Anguyano said. "I was frightened for a moment and then I was like, oh, I got to get out."

Milwaukee Fire tells CBS 58 that the victim has non-life threatening injuries and was taken to the hospital. The age of the victim has not been released by authorities, but early information suggested it was a teenager. Anguyano said he saw a young boy as he was quickly exiting the McDonald’s.

"I just saw people surrounding the kid that was shot," Anguyano said.

People who go to this specific McDonald’s tell CBS 58 there are typically two security guards standing at the door. As for Angyano, he's thankful he was able to get out quickly.

"I didn't know if there was an active shooter in the building," he said. "I was just trying to leave."
