Officials: 54-year-old woman dead following Kenosha County crash, man arrested

SOMERS, Wis. (CBS 58) --- A Kenosha woman is dead after a crash in Somers on Monday, June 15.

Officials say it happened at 2:10 p.m. in the 3500 block of Green Bay Road. 

According to officials, initial reports indicated a Subaru, occupied by four adults and two children, was traveling southbound on Green Bay Road at a high rate of speed. The Subaru struck a Nissan that was making a left turn onto 35th Street, causing the driver of the Nissan to be ejected into a nearby ditch. Officials say both vehicles had extensive damage and were towed from the scene.

The driver of the Nissan, a 54-year-old Kenosha woman, was pronounced dead at the scene.

All occupants from the Subaru sustained significant injuries and were transported to local hospitals, officials say.

The driver of the Subaru, Darnell Lyons of Kenosha, has a suspended driver's licenses and was on probation. Lyons is being charged with several felonies for causing death and causing great bodily harm while suspended.
