Northeastern Wisconsin Zoo welcomes new baby penguin

SUAMICO, Wis. (WFRV) - The Northeastern Wisconsin Zoo and Adventure Park is excited to welcome a new baby African Penguin!

It was born on January 1, and represents hope for the survival of this endangered species. The zoo says it's estimated that the wild breeding population of African Penguins has experienced a 95% decrease between 2001 and 2011 and continues to decline rapidly.

Parents Doodle and Gilligan are caring for the new penguin chick in private and will not be available for public viewing yet.
