MPS passes new budget

MILWAUKEE--Milwaukee Public Schools passed its budget. The board reports it's adding 50 more art, music, and physical education teachers.

They say they'll be cutting spending my three percent bringing the budget to $1,157,296,555. We specifically requested the district's safety position numbers after CBS 58 recently reported about violence against teachers in the classroom. The district says it's adding 18 positions over the current school year.

We are still waiting for the MPS Board to comment on claims teachers made about violence in the classroom.
