Milwaukee mayor to sign city budget today

MILWAUKEE -- Violence and poverty are two key issues the mayor will address as he signs the Milwaukee city budget today.

Mayor Barrett will sign the budget at a city-owned tax-foreclosed house.

The location highlights one of the most important initiatives in next year's fiscal plan, the mayor's strong neighborhoods investment plan.

Other big investments include hiring more than 100 police officers, investing in new facilities for several libraries, and increasing funds for improving roadways.
