Milwaukee man sentenced to life in prison for murder of Kania Brunson

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- A Milwaukee man is going to prison for life for the murder of a woman in 2022. 

Sultan Shareef was sentenced to life in prison Wednesday morning with an additional 12 years for mutilating a corpse. 

Shareef was convicted of killing Kania Brunson in September of 2022. 

Police say he killed Brunson, and then got another man to help him set her body on fire. 

That second man, Johnny Hopgood, has pleaded guilty to obstructing an officer and resisting arrest.
