Milwaukee County Transit System encouraging drivers to "Dump the Pump"

MILWAUKEE -- It's national \"Dump the Pump\" Day and the Milwaukee County Transit System wants people to get on board.

Studies show that public transit could save passengers more than $10,000 a year by choosing to ride the bus instead of driving a car.

With new upgrades to county buses, including the addition of real-time bus information that allows passengers to track a bus along its route, MCTS officials want people to give public transit a chance.

There's an easier way to pay fare by using a reloadable card that passengers scan when boarding the bus, and also plans for an announcement system that tells passengers what bus stop is coming up.

CBS 58's Matt Doyle has more.
