Local Man Scammed out of $3,600 After Hiring Contractor to Fix Roof

RACINE COUNTY - A Village of Franksville man was scammed out of $3,000 after hiring a man to fix his roof.

Deputies responded to the man's home for reports of a theft by contractor. Upon arrival, the deputies spoke with the homeowner who stated that 6 months ago he entered into a contract with TK Improvements which is owned and operate by Thomas Krivitz.

The homeowner stated that the contract was an agreement to have TK Improvements tear off the roof of his home and replace it with new materials. The full cost of the job was to be $4,200. The homeowner agreed to pay a $3,600 down payment and $600 upon completion of the job.

On March 31st, 2016 the homeowner gave the check to Krivitz believing that the construction would start shortly thereafter.

The check was cashed on April 1st, 2016. Numerous attempts were made to contact Krivitz by phone but were unsuccessful. As of March 22nd, 2017 no work had been done by Krivitz and the money has not been returned.

Krivitz will have his Preliminary hearing on April 5, 2017.
