Insanity Plea Denied for Child Abuse Suspect

A woman accused of standing by as a 7 year old boy was abused, was denied an insanity plea Monday. 

Milwaukee Police say Etter Hughes did not step in and prevent abuse by Mary Martinez. 

That abuse eventually led to the starvation and death of the child.  A doctor's report determined Hughes does not suffer from a mental illness. Her jury trial will begin in June.
