The inmate who died after being found unresponsive in his jail cell was Hubert Smith who was set to stand trial for a triple shooting in his Brookfield neighborhood.
Smith's defense attorney confirming the identity for CBS 58 News.
The Waukesha County Sheriff's Office says correctional staff responded tried lifesaving measures when he was found in his cell Wednesday evening.
The attorney says his 78 year old client died Thursday.
Smith was awaiting trial after shooting at neighbors and injuring two of them in 2015.
The City of Waukesha Police Department is currently investigating.
The cause of death is pending an autopsy.
