Brewers preview homestand, new fan plaza ahead of Cubs series
FRANKLIN, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Hundreds of local high school students and soon to be graduates got a change to learn about jobs in the trades on Wednesday, March 6.
A trades hiring event was held at Franklin High School.
More than 70 companies with representation from all over Milwaukee, Waukesha, and Racine counties were at the event.
Organizers say the students could give their resumes to the employers, giving those companies a chance to fill their talent pipelines.
"Give other things a try. because I never thought coming in last year that landscaping would be what I really liked to do," said Michael Freuck, crew technician apprentice.
"The number of people that are leaving the trades, they're not being replaced at the same rate, so we need to promote the trades, we need to promote these as good options for students," said Tom Hermann, from the Southwest Milwaukee Consortium.
There were around 750 attendees expected at the event.
