General Mitchell Elementary School stages fashion show for the Make a Wish Foundation

Sometimes when you strike a post the purpose is more than skin deep.

That was the case Thursday night for the Student Council at General Mitchell Elementary School.

They staged an elaborate fashion show with all the proceeds going to the Make A Wish Foundation which grants the wishes of seriously ill children.

This took a lot of planning. Students spent half the school year making sure everybody was runway ready.

\"We've had a few families here that have used make a wish before and our student council president said and all the student council said it's time to give back,\" explained Teacher Christina Jirjis. \"They've given to us. So, why don't we give back to them.\"

Many stores donated clothes for the summer theme including Target, Good Will, Walmart and Plato's Closet.

Students and staff of all ages stepped in to strut their stuff and make this wish to serve the community a reality.

The goal is to reach $1,000.

They've set up an \"eventbrite\" site in hopes of getting donations from those who could not attend the fashion show.
