11-month-old and 27-year-old mother killed in crash at 35th and Capitol

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Milwaukee Police are investigating a fatal crash that happened around 1:15 a.m. on October 2, 2017 in the 3500 block of W. Capitol Drive.

A 22-year-old male was driving his Honda CRV westbound on W. Capitol Drive when he disregarded a red stop light and struck a Lexus. The victims inside the Lexus were a 27-year-old female, an 11-month-old female and female teenager. 

The Milwaukee County Medical Examiner's Office investigated the double fatal traffic accident, and both the mother and baby were pronounced dead at the scene. The teenager was injured, according to Milwaukee Police.  Autopsies are scheduled for Monday.  

Following the incident, the suspect was later taken into custody at a local hospital.
