RACINE, Wis. (CBS 58) -- The family of a 26-year-old shot and killed by Racine Police has filed a federal lawsuit against the city and the officers involved.
The lawsuit claims Chad Stillman and Peter Boeck acted recklessly and violated Donte Shannon's rights.
Police say Shannon was shot while running from a traffic stop and they say he was carrying a gun.
Shannon's family says he was not a threat and the use of deadly force was not necessary.
The Department of Justice is still investigating.
