Drunk Mount Pleasant man arrested after causing a disturbance and kicking firefighter

MOUNT PLEASANT, Wis. (CBS 58) -- On Tuesday October 17 around 8:15 p.m., Mt. Pleasant Police officers responded to the 4300 of Danbury Lane for an out of control adult. People inside the home were attempting to prevent the man identified as 22-year-old Andrew Nielsen from arming himself.

When police arrived they learned that the man was drunk and wanted to harm himself. Police attempted to calm the man but ended up being detained and escorted into an ambulance.

While being assessed Nielsen kicked a firefighter in the stomach. He was taken to the hospital where he continued to cause a disturbance by yelling, threatening officers and attempting to escape.

After he was medically cleared, Nielsen was taken to Racine County Jail and held on charges of battery to a firefighter, resisting an officer and disorderly conduct.
