Driver hits and kills motorcylist after taking eyes off the road

FOND DU LAC COUNTY-- A man is dead after the driver of a car strikes a motorcyclist from behind overnight.


The crash happened on Highway 44 north of Douglass Street in the Town of Ripon around 3:30 a.m. Sunday.


The car and motorcycle were both traveling southbound on Highway 44 when the car hit the motorcycle from behind.


The driver of the motorcycle, a 35-year-old Ripon man, was pronounced dead at the scene.


The 25-year-old driver of the car, a Green Lake man, told authorities that he was looking down at his radio when he struck the motorcyclist.


The driver of the car was not injured.


The crash is under investigation by the Fond du Lac County Sheriff's Office.
