Cudahy police officer injured after pursuit of bank robbery suspect

CUDAHY, Wis. (CBS 58) -- A Cudahy police officer is recovering after being injured during a pursuit on Friday afternoon.

The Cudahy Police Department responded to a report of a robbery at the Landmark Credit Union, located at 4801 S. Packard Ave, around 12:18 p.m.

The investigation revealed that the suspect entered the bank, approached the teller, and demanded money. The suspect then fled the area with an undisclosed amount of money.

The suspect was positively identified.

Around 6:15 p.m., Cudahy detectives located the suspect's vehicle parked outside an area motel. After seeing the suspect enter the vehicle, detectives followed the suspect into the city of Oak Creek.

Oak Creek Police attempted to stop the driver but the driver fled. A pursuit was initiated and ended on the golf course in Grant Park where the suspect was arrested after a brief foot pursuit.

During the pursuit, a Cudahy Police officer was involved in a single car squad accident within Grant Park. The officer was taken to a local hospital where he was treated and released.

The 29-year-old suspect now faces multiple criminal charges.

The investigation remains ongoing.

No other suspects are being sought.
