Meet CBS 58’s Pet of the Week: Blackberry
Among the many performers to grace the stage at Summerfest in 2018 Ben Rue stands out. The Oregon native is no stranger to Wisconsin. His wife is from the area, but this was his first visit to the world’s largest music festival.
However what makes Rue different from most performers is his effort to inspire others who are like him. Rue was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes when he was 14 years old. Ever since he’s worked to teach others about the importance of managing the condition and refusing to let it hamper his music career.
On CBS 58 Sunday Morning, Rue talked about his challenges as a diabetic on tour and his partnership with Accu-Chek for the #BuckOffDiabetes social media campaign.
