Brown Deer woman out $639 after sending money to an online date

BROWN DEER, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Brown Deer Police are investigating a fraudulent complaint after a woman gave money to an online date.

According to police, the 46-year-old female Brown Deer resident reported that she met a man on an online dating website and began talking with him via phone and text. 

The man convinced the woman to send a total of $639 to four recipients in Texas via a wire transfer from a Western Union in Milwaukee over the weekend.

The woman never met the man in person.

Milwaukee Police are now investigating.
