Brewers trade for Broxton, get swept by Giants

SAN FRANCISCO - there was one bit of good news during the Brewers rough weekend on the west coast; the Crew have acquired bullpen help that can continue into October.

The Brewers acquired Jonathan Broxton from the Cincinnati Reds Sunday for two players to be named later. Broxton was a longtime closer with the Los Angeles Dodgers, but has spent the last few years backing up Aroldis Chapman in the Reds' bullpen. Broxton has filled in as Cincinnati's ninth inning guy during Chapman's injury earlier this season.

On the field, the forgettable weekend sweep was capped off by a 15-5 Giants win Sunday. Kyle Lohse allowed seven runs in 5.2 innings, and the Brewers bullpen again struggled against a Giants team that scored 31 runs in the series.
