Brewers' Anderson teaming up with local nonprofits for weekend meals program

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Brewers Pitcher Chase Anderson is making sure Milwaukee kids have healthy food options when they come home from school.

Every Friday, students attending Townsend Street School in Milwaukee's Sherman Park neighborhood will be given backpacks filled with nutritious food they can eat on the weekend.

It's through a partnership between United Healthcare and the non-profits Dreambuilders and Blessings in a Backpack.

MPS says the healthy food will help students come back to school on Mondays prepared, focused, and ready to learn.
