Happy 40th anniversary: Sellars celebrates major milestone
MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) – The “Fight for 15” movement in Milwaukee wants to better pay for airport workers. They’re asking specifically for a deal similar to one that the Milwaukee Bucks are offering.
The Bucks have promised to pay workers for their new arena district a minimum of $12.50 an hour this year and $15 an hour by 2023.
They’ve also set standards for hiring local workers.
At a news conference Monday, a county supervisor said she’ll propose extending the Bucks’ job standards to concession workers at the airport.
"If a private development like the Bucks arena can put Milwaukee County first, then so can a multinational hub of businesses here right in the airport, so can they,” said Supervisor Marcelia Nicholson with the Milwaukee County Board.
The Bucks’ arena plan also gives workers the right to form a union through a free and fair process.
