17-year-old arrested after crash near 5th and Lapham leaves 1 dead, 1 seriously injured

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- One person was killed in a crash near 5th and Lapham late Sunday, Oct. 29. 

Police said around 11:35 p.m., a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed on the I-94 off-ramp disregarded the red traffic light and collided with another vehicle. 

The driver of the speeding vehicle, a 17-year-old boy, fled the scene on foot but later turned himself in and was arrested. 

The driver of the vehicle that was struck, a 54-year-old, was transported to a local hospital for treatment of life-threatening injuries. 

The passenger of the vehicle that was struck, another 54-year-old, was killed in the crash. 

Criminal charges against the 17-year-old boy are being referred to the Milwaukee County District Attorney's Office.
