Stocks fall on Wall Street, giving up the week's gains

Stocks fell broadly in afternoon trading on Wall Street Friday as the market heads for a feeble ending to an up-and-down week of trading. The S&P 500 index fell 1%.
The benchmark index is headed for its second straight weekly loss. The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 0.6% and the Nasdaq fell 1.1%.
Roughly 80% of the stocks in the benchmark S&P 500 fell and every sector was in the red.
Technology and communications companies were the biggest drags on the market. Energy prices fell.
The yield on the 10-year Treasury note rose to 1.37% from 1.33% a day earlier.
