Racine house fire leaves 2 families displaced

RACINE, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Two families are displaced Wednesday night, Jan. 26 after a fire at a two-family residence on Racine's near north side.

The Racine Fire Department responded to the fire near Marquette Street and Nelson Court just after noon. 

Tenants in the upper unit discovered fire originating near an electrical outlet, called 911 and evacuated safely.  No injuries were reported. 

Officials say the Red Cross is assisting both families -- a family of three and a family of five. 

Damage estimates exceed $68,000. 

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
