UPDATE: K9 Pyro recovering well after being stabbed by suspect

GREEN BAY, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Green Bay Police have been posting steady updates on the condition of K9 Pyro who was stabbed during the arrest of a suspect on Sunday, April 7.
Pyro's handler, Officer Salzmann, has been sleeping by Pyro's side while he receives around the clock medical care.
The K9 is recovering well and was able to get up and walk outside her a few minutes on Tuesday. He still has a feeding tube and several fluid drains for injuries in his neck.
Green Bay Mayor Jim Schmitt presented Pyro with a Key to the City for his heroic action.
Pyro had surgery to repair multiple soft tissue injuries to his neck and esophagus.

GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP/CBS 58) -- A Green Bay police dog is being treated after he was stabbed multiple times during an encounter with a suspect.
Officers responded to a call about a man with a gun Sunday around 8 p.m. Police say they surrounded a house and the man came out. K-9 Officer Pyro bit the man as officers attempted to arrest him and he stabbed the animal.
The Green Bay Police Department says Pyro was taken to an animal hospital.
Green Bay Police say anyone who is interested in making a donation to help Pyro can drop it off at the Green Bay Police Department or send in a check to the Green Bay Police Department with "K-9 Donation" in the memo field of the check.
