Milwaukee celebrates Arbor Day by planting trees in Kilbourn-Kadish Park

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) – Milwaukee is celebrating Arbor Day by making the city a little greener.

The DPW’s Forestry Division planted 100 trees in Kilbourn-Kadish Park on Friday.

Milwaukee has at least 200,000 trees across the city.

The city’s forestry division works constantly replanting, trimming, and taking care of those trees.

“We know it’s important to be a good city to live you have to have trees and that means taking care of them and that’s why every year we celebrate arbor day,” said Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett.

Students from Tamarack Waldorf School helped crews plant some of the trees on Friday. The city was also honored with its 39th consecutive Tree City USA award.

The award recognizes cities for their excellence in urban forestry management.
