The plant will be built off I-94 in Mount Pleasant between Highways 11 and KR and will be about 20 million square feet -- the largest project in the state and one of the largest manufacturing campuses in the world.
Foxconn is expected to hire thousands of new employees with an average salary of $53,000. Foxconn Technology Group tells CBS 58 they have already hired their first employee, retired Navy Captain Chris Murdoch as Senior Advisor. In addition to the plant, 150 suppliers are expected to come to Wisconsin, bringing even more jobs to the region.
Foxconn released this statement Wednesday afternoon:
"We are happy to announce that the Village of Mount Pleasant in Racine County will be the future home of Foxconn’s state-of-the-art advanced display manufacturing campus. We look forward to being part of the community as we create 13,000 jobs in Wisconsin with many thousands more jobs created among the businesses and entrepreneurs who will be part of the extensive Wisconsin-based supply chain supporting this project.
"Foxconn chooses to build our first advanced manufacturing campus in Racine County for many reasons, including its talented and hard-working workforce, which is a major competitive advantage for this region. Together with the people of Racine County, we will create a robust 8K+5G ecosystem in the United States to meet future needs for the most advanced display technology."
Elected officials will be holding informational sessions to discuss public infrastructure improvements and local financing options for the project:
- October 11 from 4:30 - 6:30 p.m. at Mount Pleasant Village Hall
- October 12 from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. at Memorial Hall in Racine
- October 24 from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. at Veteran's Terrace in Burlington

MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- The exact location of a potentially massive Foxconn Technology Group manufacturing plant in southeast Wisconsin is about to be unveiled.
Racine County leaders and representatives of Foxconn said Tuesday the site location will be unveiled at an event Wednesday morning in Sturtevant.
The Wisconsin Legislature approved a $3 billion incentive package for Foxconn, but the state's economic development agency is still working on the final contract. Foxconn has narrowed its search for the display screen factory to Racine County, in between Milwaukee and Chicago.
Foxconn has said the company may invest $10 billion in the state on the factory campus that could employ up to 13,000 people. Critics have questioned whether Foxconn will invest that much in Wisconsin.
