MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- There was a sweet surprise Monday, when families arrived to pick up food from the Boys & Girls Clubs meal distribution program.
Along with the usual food supplies, families at the club near 24th and Rogers received boxes of Girl Scout cookies.
The Girl Scouts organization has donated close to 17,000 packages to different community groups, with more on the way.
"We want families to know that Girl Scouts has not stopped, Girl Scouts has provided cookie donations throughout southeast Wisconsin, about 17,000 packages. And we partner with the Boys & Girls Clubs to provide the leading organization for girl leadership experiences," said Larissa High, Girl Scouts community outreach manager.
As of Monday, the Boys and Girls Clubs meal programs have handed out more than 100,000 meals to families since schools shut down.
