WAUKESHA, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Darrell Brooks agreed to comply with court-ordered NGI evaluations during a hearing on Tuesday, June 28.
The defense team for the man accused of running his car through the Waukesha Christmas parade asked for a special plea of not guilty by mental disease or defect.
The court ordered NGI evaluations during Brooks' last hearing on Monday, June 20.
The court originally appointed two doctors, one recommended by each the state and defense, to conduct the evaluations.
The defense asked the court to remove the state's recommendation because of a conflict of interest.
Judge Jennifer Dorow agreed and appointed a new doctor recommended by the state.
Dorow also appointed a third doctor.
Evaluation reports will be submitted in August.
The trial is scheduled to begin in October and is expected to last one month.
