Court: Man who harassed ex-girlfriend can't join bar

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — The state Supreme Court says a man who harassed his ex-girlfriend can't join the Wisconsin bar.

According to court documents, Daniel Hausserman harassed his ex-girlfriend with texts, telephone messages and emails while they were students at Drake University in 2015. He was charged in Iowa with third-degree harassment and sentenced to probation.

The Iowa Board of Law Examiners didn't let Hausserman take his bar exam. He passed the Wisconsin bar exam in 2017 but the Wisconsin Board of Law Examiners denied him admission.

The justices unanimously upheld the board's decision Friday, noting Hausserman failed to disclose on his exam application that Drake had banned him from contacting his ex-girlfriend, his unlawful conduct and the Iowa board's decision to deny admission.

Hausserman's attorney, Terry Johnson, declined comment.
