Pat's Rib Place to bring southern cuisine to Milwaukee Public Market

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The Milwaukee Public Market recently announced Pat's Rib Place will join its list of locally-owned vendors.

Officials say the addition is the second location for the Black-owned business. The southern BBQ restaurant currently operates a location on Sunset Drive in Waukesha.

Pat's will target a summer opening at the Milwaukee Public Market, providing their signature smoked barbecue ribs, chicken wings, beef brisket, and sauces, according to a news release.

“In every way – from quality product to hospitable customer service – Pat’s reputation is among the best in the Milwaukee area,” said Paul Schwartz, executive director of the Milwaukee Public Market and Business Improvement District #2. “We are beyond excited to welcome Pat’s to the Market, the city of Milwaukee and Third Ward neighborhood, and look forward to expanding our food culture with their mouth-watering culinary offerings for our patrons.”

Owners Alisha and Ty Hayes opened Pat's Rib Place in Waukesha in 2009. They say it has a focus on Southern-style barbecue as a tribute to Alisha's mother, Pat, and her Southern cooking.

Pat's meats, which are smoked daily and served with homemade sauces, will also be sold by the jar at the market. They will also serve pulled pork, smoked pastrami, corned beef, an array of sides including cornbread, smoked baked beans, and homemade potato salad.

“The Public Market is one of the venues that has helped put Milwaukee ‘on the map’,” said Pat’s Rib Place owners Alisha and Ty Hayes. “We are thrilled to showcase our cuisine and family history at such an iconic and well renowned Milwaukee attraction.”
