Winter Weather Arrives...New Winter Weather Advisories

The record highs over the last week are quickly being replaced by winter weather headlines!  A new winter weather advisory has been issued for Sheboygan, Fond du Lac, Washington, Dodge, and Ozaukee counties from 12:00 AM Friday until 6 AM Saturday.  The Milwaukee metro area is forecast to stay on the warmer side of this winter storm, so the overall impacts will be minor.

Rain will arrive across the area this evening; however, colder air aloft around the winter weather advisory will change the rain over to a mix of rain, freezing rain, and snow into Friday morning.  Milwaukee will stay with a cold rain for Friday.

Surface temperatures across the advisory will hover around freezing during the day on Friday, and that will cause a mess of freezing rain.  Ice has a chance to accumulate and cause issues, especially on elevated surfaces and power lines.  Strong winds along with icing up to a quarter of an inch could create some power disruptions on Friday.

The cold air surges southeast across the entire area Friday night into Saturday morning.  The precipitation will turn over to all snow Friday evening into Saturday.  Most of the area will pick up between 1" and 2" of snow through Saturday afternoon.  The exception will be across the advisory area where 3" to 6" could occur throughout the entire event.

Travel will be an issue on Friday into Saturday throughout the advisory counties, so please use caution with travel.  The heaviest of the snow will occur just to our northwest with this event.
