Olympics Recognizes Cheerleading as a Sport

GREEN BAY (WFRV) -- The International Olympic Committee recognizing cheerleading as a sport.

That means, one day you could see spirited women and men competing for Olympic gold at the Games.

The New York Times reports the IOC will give cheerleading's governing body $25,000 per year, with the opportunity to apply for other grants.

The provisional recognition will last for three years, during which the sport can apply to be included in the Olympics

Skateboarding, surfing, and sport climbing are joining the Olympics at the 2020 Games in Tokyo.
