Waukesha Police Thank Community for Help Finding Missing Boy

In a press release, the Waukesha Police Captain, Dan Baumann, said, "we can not thank the community enough for all their efforts in cooperation with the Public Safety Professionals. We had families working together, people dropping off boots and supplies for those who showed up in flip flops and shorts.  We had parents with their babies in carriers wanting to help. I could go on and on about how great of support we received. As we all move forward in our lives and get back to our day to day tasks I know we all can look back on this incident and truly see how the kindness of the human heart can bring people together."

In a joint release from the Ounkham Family and the Waukesha Police and Fire Department they expressed their thanks to all of the volunteers. The gratitude also extended to local media and social media for spreading the word and keeping the public updated on the developments in the search.

The search area covered approximately three square miles of corn fields, streams, and thick wooded areas with little or no roads. Because of this difficult terrain specialized search teams were requested and others simply responded to the area to help search for Andrew. The Waukesha West High School provided the volunteer staging area and the Waukesha Park and Recreation Department provided the park shelter as a safe place to run the command post.
