Carthage College Football Player Accused of Sexual Assault

A Carthage College football player is accused of sexually assaulting his teammate.
According to the criminal complaint, 19-year-old Lawrence Gaines assaulted the drunk male victim in his dorm room after a party.
The victim said he tried to text for help.
Carthage College declined to comment, but told us it takes reports of sexual misconduct very seriously and is committed to creating a safe environment for students.
