Reports: Brewers, Indians agree to trade involving Lucroy

Brewers fans spent much of Saturday night with one eye on the field and another on the Brewers dugout, waiting for a hint on Jonathan Lucroy's future. But the biggest news about Lucroy didn't break until after the game had ended.

Several reports, including one from Fox Sports' Ken Rosenthal, say the Brewers and Indians have agreed to a trade that will send veteran catcher Jonathan Lucroy to Cleveland for four prospects.

Lucroy has been one of the top catchers in the history of the Brewers franchise, combining middle-of-the-order offense with a strong ability to handle a pitching staff. He did not play Saturday night as Brewers GM David Stearns worked out trade details. The reported swap still needs Lucroy's approval, as the Indians are one on eight teams on the veteran's "no-trade" list.

In return, the Brewers will reportedly receive three of the Indians' top 22 prospects, including catcher Francisco Mejia, who holds a 42-game hitting streak for the Indians' minor league affiliate in Lynchburg, VA. Mejia is listed as Cleveland's sixth best prospect overall, and fifth in MLB among prospects at catcher.

Also coming to the Brewers organization would be SS Yu-Cheng Chang, the Indians' 12th ranked prospect, and Greg Allen, the team's 22nd ranked prospect and a speedster who racked up 45 stolen bases last season. A fourth player is reportedly included but has not yet been named.

Lucroy will be a free agent after the 2017 season, and has already said he wants to play for a winner while still in the prime of his career. The Indians are in first place in the American League's Central Division, and recently lost starting catcher Yan Gomes to injury.
