Madison public school students will not be allowed to wear Native American logos to school

Starting next year, public school students in Madison will no longer be able to wear clothing with Native American athletic team names.

Native American Student Association is calling it the first of its kind for a school district.

Under the new policy, visiting teams would also be asked to leave their Native American mascots and logos at home when they play a Madison school.

If they don't comply the game will be canceled.

That also applies to clothing for professional teams like the Chicago Blackhawks or Florida State Seminoles.

If a student breaks the rules and wears it to school, they will be asked to change or turn the clothing inside out.
