WASHINGTON, DC - Marquette had beaten Syracuse on February 25th, giving MU momentum to make a run in the NCAA Tournament. What no one knew that day was the loss gave the Orange motivation for revenge in the Elite Eight.
The Golden Eagles shot just 22 percent from the floor, and Vander Blue hit just three shots from the floor, as Marquette fell to Syracuse 55-39 in the Elite Eight in Washington, DC.
Davante Gardner also had 14 points for Marquette, who ends their season one win shy of their first Final Four since 2003.
Syracuse moves on to the Final Four, something they also hadn't done since 2003.
