Shorthanded Brewers rally in 12th to beat Cardinals

ST. LOUIS - Trailing 3-0 after six innings, the Milwaukee Brewers rallied for three runs in the seventh and two more in the 12th inning, posting a 5-3 win over the Cardinals in St. Louis.

Yovani Gallardo, 1-11 in his career against the Cardinals, gave up three runs in six innings, including home runs to Matt Holliday and Allen Craig. But the Brewers rallied in the seventh thanks to a pair of RBI singles. Aramis Ramirez was then hit by a pitch for the second time in the game, bringing in the tying run. Ramirez later left the game and is considered day to day.

Khris Davis' RBI triple gave the Brewers the lead in the 12th. Zach Duke picked up the win after throwing two innings of scoreless relief. Francisco Rodriguez retired the Cardinals in the 12th for the save.

The Brewers are 10-1 on the road this season.
