Richardson sweeps at Long Track Championships
WEST ALLIS, Wis. (AP) -- Heather Richardson won the 500- and 1,000-meter races Saturday to sweep the first four women's events at the U.S. Long Track Speedskating Championships.
Richardson, from High Point, N.C., had a winning 500 time of 38.27 seconds and 1:14.00 in the 1,000. She also finished first in the 500 and 3,000 on Friday. Mitchell Whitmore of Waukesha, Wis., won the men's 500 for a second straight day in 35.25 seconds. Three-time Olympian and Chicago native Shani Davis won the 1,000 in 1:08.45, a distance in which he has won gold in the last two Winter Olympics. |
