Pirates ride Byrd's wings to win, snap futility streak
MILWAUKEE - If the Pittsburgh Pirates seem overly excited about a mid-week win in September, there's a reason.
The Pirates' 4-3 win Tuesday night at Miller Park, capped by Marlon Byrd's two RBI hits, give the Pirates 81 wins on the season, guaranteeing the team it's first non-losing season in 21 years.
The Pirates last had a winning record in 1992, the year the team lost in seven games in the NLCS to the Atlanta Braves. It was Barry Bonds' final year in a Pirates uniform.
Jonathan Lucroy and Jean Segura drove in runs for the Brewers.
