Late rallies fall short, Axford serves up 11th inning homer in loss
by WDJT Sports

MILWAUKEE - The Brewers battled back several times, including a two-run ninth inning rally to send the game to extra innings, but in the end, they were too short-handed to avoid a sweep by the Diamondbacks.

John Axford allowed a two-run homer to Menasha native Eric Hinske in the 11th inning, and a rally in the bottom of the 11th fell short in an 8-7 Brewers loss.

Yovani Gallardo gave up 4 runs in six innings to take the no-decisions. It's the first time in Gallardo's career that the Brewers have lost a game he's started against the Diamondbacks.

Jean Segura sustained a knee injury early in the game, forcing Ron Roenicke to make several defensive changes. Roenicke's bench was so depleted that he had to send out Kyle Lohse to pinch-hit in the bottom of the 11th inning.

Lohse struck out.
